Cost of Living on the Royal Princess

The cost to spend the month of January 2017 on the Royal Princess is about $295 per day for two people.  The ship sails out of Fort Lauderdale, and makes three cruises of 10 days each during this month.  The prices and itineraries were pulled directly from the Princess Cruises website in March 2016.

I’m concluding my series of looking at the costs of living on Princess ships with this post.  I’ve looked at costs on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian.  Whereas I just looked at the ship with the cheapest cruises on the other cruiselines, I decided to compare costs of three Princess ships. The itineraries looked interesting.  We’re getting up into the stratosphere of cruising costs as we approach $300/day for a couple to cruise.  At this point, I’m looking at the feasibility for most people, myself included, to cruise for the long term, and in the future I aim to limit choices to lower cost scenarios.

The Royal runs 10 night itineraries from Fort Lauderdale, and visits some lesser visited ports such as Dominica, and St. Lucia.  There are three 10-nighters that depart in January.

The Royal stops at the Princess Cays private island before visiting St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, and St. Kitts.  The map above is the one Princess supplies for both the January 9 cruise and the January 29 cruise.  The itinerary map doesn’t exactly reflect either itinerary.
